Cerebral Palsy Massage

We offer support for both adults and children affected by Cerebral Palsy.

Utilising advanced 3D gait analysis, we pinpoint areas of weakness and tightness allowing us to collaborate with existing support teams to develop a personalised action plan aimed at enhancing independence and movement. Additionally, we often incorporate massage techniques to alleviate tension and improve flexibility.

Our gait specialist, Graham Bell, holds a Master’s degree in Sports and Exercise Science from the University of Bath, specialising in biomechanics. He is passionate about motor learning, gait, and human movement analysis, with extensive studies in Clinical Biomechanics related to Cerebral Palsy and strokes, fall prevention, motor control, and disability sport and exercise.

We provide massage therapy for all levels of Cerebral Palsy, including individuals who have undergone SDR surgery. The primary goal of our massage therapy is to relieve muscle tension, enhance range of motion, and improve muscle function. The massage can target any area of the body, with legs and arms being the most commonly treated.

Cerebral Palsy Gait Analysis

Our Cerebral Palsy Gait Analysis consists of clients walking naturally while utilising various splints, supports, and footwear. The process will include the use of 3D gait software to identify any asymmetries and preferences in specific limbs and muscles. Additionally, this software will help track progress over time.

The software will show:

  • Step length

  • Single support phase

  • Double support phase

  • Medial-Lateral force

  • Propulsion force

  • Breaking force

  • Gait cycle

  • Step time

The report will highlight areas of weakness, tightness, and walking technique. These findings can be shared with your physician to optimise your improvement and progress in your gait.

Child with cerebral palsy running on the treadmill

"This was one of the best purchases I've ever made. Graham is unbelievably knowledgeable and the software he uses is fantastic. Within an hour he identified several areas of my running form and gait that were problematic and sent me on my way to improve them. Really can't recommend this enough, if you are a runner struggling with any sort of injury, this is the best use of your cash. Absolutely thrilled with the process and service."
